Who is Save the Children?

Save the Children does whatever it takes for children, every day and in times of crisis, in the U.S. and around the world. Here in the U.S., they work in over 200 of the poorest communities in rural America, helping hundreds of thousands of vulnerable children each year.

In America’s underserved, rural communities where they work, Save the Children is on the ground, providing nourishing meals, educational resources and essential family and community support, so that these children have the opportunity to realize their potential. With millions of America’s children experiencing potentially life-changing challenges due to COVID-19, there has never been more urgency to ensuring these children, their families and their communities have the resources they need to be successful.

In the United States, what does Save the Children do?

Did you know that nearly 90% of a child’s brain is developed by the time they turn 5?Yet children from low-income families can enter school more than 18 months behind their peers. That’s why early learning opportunities are so critical for children, regardless of their family’s income. Save the Children’s education experts work across rural America to provide early learning opportunities and programs that have been proven to accelerate achievement for at-risk children.

When the pandemic first shut down the country, in March of 2020, many rural families were left in a precarious position. School meals their children depend on were no longer accessible, and the gaps between children who have the resources to learn at home and those who don’t widened. Save the Children has been working to combat learning loss and ensure that families have sufficient food to make up for their children’s disrupted school meal programs. With their longstanding commitment to rural communities, Save the Children continues to build families’ resiliency and keep children from falling behind.

How can I support Save the Children?

Supporting Save the Children, or any other charity that we have partnered with, is easy with Porte’s #DoorToChange program. We made the process simple: when you buy or pay for something, we make a separate donation equal to a portion of the purchase price to your selected charity. It doesn’t cost you anything.

Follow these steps to start supporting a cause that matters to you:

  1. Log in to your Porte app
  2. Select “Support a cause that matters to you from the dashboard.
  3. Select Save the**Children (or another charity partner).

That’s it!

Although you can only support one charity at a time, you can change your selected charity as often as you like. You can also see an approximate amount generated from the Porte community for each cause in the #DoorToChange section in the Porte App.

Sign into your Porte app, and let’s make an impact together.
